Owner review

Layout changes and approximate country and region are shared with the site owner under an anonymous browser ID to improve personalization. Location comes from network metadata and may be inaccurate. Visitor records do not include IP addresses. The latest 1,000 changes per browser are retained. Turn off Share layout log to stop future layout and location sharing. No names, precise location, source clicks, or story-reading history are sent.

      THREE FOR NOW

      A quick read.
      A personal feed.

Country tiles such as US and Canada describe the story’s subject, not your location or the publisher’s country. Stories without a clear country stay under World. Every story starts with a summary of three words or fewer. Tap for context and links to the original reporting.

Use Pin on a category tile to keep it at the front of your grid and prevent it disappearing from inactivity. Use × to hide a category tile, even if pinned. Restore hidden tiles brings them back; adding the same category also restores it. Manually hiding tiles can reduce the grid below 25. Pins stay in this browser and can be undone with Unpin. Add a category to create your own persistent tile, such as Tennis. Search-added categories get a one-day trial. Check Keep tile to pin the category permanently. Choose News source to add a publisher by name or domain. Source tiles match publisher metadata in the current feed, can be pinned or hidden, and grow with reading activity. Adding a source does not fetch its full catalog or bypass paywalls. Custom categories match headline and summary text in the current import; adding one does not fetch new articles. Click a category heading to see up to ten ranked matches. Category tiles start with three stories. Reading four different stories in a category within 28 days expands it to six stories and twice the tile height on your next page load. Three different reads in a recognized subcategory can create a new tile, such as Football within Sports. Subcategories currently use headline keyword matching.

The adaptive grid targets 24 automatically selected category tiles plus one display ad. Of those 24 categories, one is chosen randomly for discovery. Pinned and kept categories add to that target and stay until unpinned or hidden. Search additions can exceed the target for 24 hours; afterward they compete by usage and less popular categories drop out. Existing custom choices are preserved as pins. There is no maximum number of pins or additions. The grid uses fewer categories when there are not enough matches or you hide tiles. Show all categories temporarily bypasses the target. Reset history clears personalization. Story opens and category clicks move favorite tiles toward the upper left when callouts close.

For you combines top coverage in your favorite category with inferred interests. Top stories is the same shared ranking for every reader: stories from the past 72 hours ordered by reporting-organization count, with newer stories first when coverage ties. Clicks, votes, reading history, pins and hidden categories do not affect this ranking. Both columns can repeat stories from category tiles. Coverage counts can include unidentified syndicated reporting and reflect only our imported sample. All story links use three words or fewer. Labeled ad spaces are placeholders; no ad network is connected. Callout ad context comes from the story category or the category you opened.

Opens, eight active seconds on a summary, source clicks and votes inform your local profile. Category tile visibility is recorded locally to distinguish lack of interest from lack of exposure. Wrong category? in a story callout lets you report the story, its assigned category and an optional correction or comment to the owner. Reports are saved separately from automatic layout sharing. Applied category corrections move stories out of the flagged category. Reading corrected stories marks them read but does not train tile ordering, expansion or inferred interests. Reading history stays in your browser. Tile additions, removals, expansions and shrinkage, category names, timestamps, the triggering action and approximate network country and region are shared with the site owner under an anonymous browser ID. You can turn sharing off below the grid. Clearing cookies or using another browser creates a different ID. Turning sharing off stops future collection; previously shared logs remain available to the owner. News updates are prepared server-side using GNews and AI-generated short summaries. Source links let you check the original reporting.
